Why upgrade

The benefits of moving from WordPress to Next.js

Most small business sites do not need a content management system. They need to load fast, stay secure and bring in enquiries.

Faster pages

Next.js pages are built ahead of time and served quickly, instead of being assembled from a database on every visit.

Fewer security worries

No plugin ecosystem and no public login page to attack, so there are far fewer ways in than a typical WordPress site.

No update treadmill

There are no plugins, themes or core versions for you to keep updated, so nothing quietly falls out of date.

Strong search foundations

Clean structure, fast loading and structured data are built into the code, which helps both visitors and search engines.

Hosting included

Hosting, SSL and daily backups are part of your monthly plan, so there is no separate hosting bill.

Looked after for you

We monitor uptime and make your changes, so the site is not something you have to manage.

Side by side

WordPress vs Next.js for a small business website

Both can work well. The right choice depends on how you use your site, and the trade-offs go both ways.

An upgrade is not always the answer. WordPress is often the right choice for an online store on WooCommerce, a membership or course site, or a team that publishes new content every day. In those cases we can fix, speed up and secure what you have, and quote the work before we start.

How it works

Upgrading from WordPress, step by step

  1. Free audit of your site

We test your live WordPress site for speed, mobile experience, plugins and security basics, and explain what we find in plain English.

  2. Decide: stay or upgrade

We give you an honest recommendation. If WordPress is still the right tool, we say so and can look after it.

  3. We rebuild in Next.js

We keep your good content, build the new site and redirect your old addresses, so you see a draft before anything goes live.

  4. Live and looked after

Most sites go live within 5 business days of a completed brief, and we handle hosting, SSL, backups and monitoring afterwards.

Start with the free website audit. It takes about a minute to request.

FAQ

WordPress developer: your questions answered

Do you offer WordPress development in Australia?

Yes. We build and fix WordPress websites, and we can look after an existing one. We also help owners decide whether to stay on WordPress or upgrade to a faster, managed Next.js site. Tell us what you have and what is going wrong, and we will give you an honest recommendation, including when staying put is the better choice.

Why upgrade from WordPress to Next.js?

Next.js sites are built ahead of time and served quickly, with no plugins to update and far fewer ways in for attackers. That usually means faster pages, fewer security worries and nothing for you to maintain. The trade-off is that there is no WordPress dashboard, so content changes go through us, within your monthly allowance.

How much does it cost to upgrade from WordPress to Next.js?

There is no upfront fee. The rebuild is included with any monthly plan: Core is $99, Plus is $129 and Max is $199, plus GST, covering hosting, SSL, daily backups and support. WordPress development work that is not a rebuild, such as fixing a custom plugin, is quoted before we start so there are no surprises.

Will upgrading from WordPress hurt my SEO?

It should not if it is done carefully. We review your current site first, keep the content that brings in visitors and redirect any address that changes. Nobody can promise rankings, but a faster site with clean structure and the same useful pages gives search engines no reason to drop you, and often a reason to rank you higher.

Can I still edit my own content after the upgrade?

Not in a WordPress dashboard. After the upgrade you send changes to us, and each plan includes a monthly allowance: 1 hour on Core, 1.5 on Plus and 2 on Max. If you publish new content several times a week and want to do it yourself, staying on WordPress may suit you better.

Which websites should stay on WordPress?

Online stores built on WooCommerce, membership or course sites, and sites where staff publish content daily are often better kept on WordPress. For a typical small business site with a handful of pages, built to bring in enquiries, Next.js is usually faster, safer and cheaper to look after.
